Matte Lipsticks: the Do's and Don'ts

And we’re back with another set of Do’s and Don’ts when applying Matte Lipsticks. If you haven’t checked it out already, you can quickly read through the first edition here.
Now that you’re all caught up and up to speed, let’s begin with the more advanced tips to consider when using Matte Lipsticks:

DO: MATCH THE MATTE WITH A LINER:

Most Matte lipsticks come in bold shades and run the risk of branching out the edges of your lips. To prevent the disparity between your skin tone and the shade of your choice, partner up your matte with a lip liner. A lip liner of a matching shade as your lipstick will allow you to display clear cut sharpness on the outline of your lips. If you're the one who aims for perfect lips always, the lip liner is your best friend!

DONT: FOLLOW THE POUT:

Too many celebrities tend to go over the lip line when using matte lipsticks. This because at the right proportions, it tends to accentuate their pouts. While we can’t all have a professional makeup artist, we still can dream, can’t we! Rule of thumb here is to not go overboard with matte lipsticks, instead, just peek above your lip line and you’re golden!

DO: USE A CONCEALER:

Do not be afraid to use a concealer. While the common thought when it comes to concealer is that it would distort or dull the shade you’ve applied, it is quite the contrary! A Crisp and even layer of concealer can heighten the loud and pop color of matte you’ve applied! Be it dark or bright shades, a concealer can certainly help in directing all those eyes onto your lips!

DON” T: BE AFRAID TO TRY TRY AGAIN:

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and perfection can be achieved only with practice alone. So don’t feel bad if you didn’t get it right the first time, and don’t swear off matte forever from your life! We all know that it’s hard to apply but the risk of trying is worth the reward right? So we at Belora believe that you will eventually nail the matte look, so if things go awry, just wash up and try again!
